How to integrate with DNN Blog

Aug 16, 2011 at 11:05 PM

Hey Will

I've added the module to a site with the DNN Blog module setup.  The Disqus module is on the same page as the main blog and I've attached it to the View_Blog module, is that right?

I've found then when viewing a blog entry and placing a comment on it, that same comment is visible on all other blog entry pages as well.  Is there a way to restrict the comment to a particular entry?

(you can see an example here: http://haw.zeta.co.nz/blog)

I will look into this ASAP.  I am sure that this has something to do with an oversight on my part.  If it is, I should have a fix out there in the next 48 hours.

I don't see anything in the code to cause this.  Do you have an account on Disqus?

Yup I do.  You can see it on both these pages

http://haw.zeta.co.nz/blog/entryid/1/welcome-to-the-site

http://haw.zeta.co.nz/blog/entryid/2/how-to-make-your-office-safer

They both have the same comment from me on them.  Perhaps I've just associated the Disqus module with the wrong dnn module.  Which one should it be? I used the main View_Blog module

The module you assign it to shouldn't have any impact on whether the module displays the wrong/right comments.  The comments are supposed to be tied to the current page URL automatically for you, regardless to the module you associate it with.  This is currently done using a client-side method though.  I will try a patch release that addresses this through a server-side method.  Would you be willing to test this out as soon as it comes out?

I have a test release ready to go.  Please try it and let me know if you have a different result.

This release is not public yet, and is currently waiting for your feedback.  If you don't respond by Tuesday, I will release it.

Will

Have installed new version but it doesn't fit the problem unfortunatly.  Check the two links above and all comments are visible still.

I setup a new install of DNN6 and added the Blog module and this new version to it - just in case it wasn't working because I had already added a comment under the previous version.  But that is doing the same thing.  See the two different blog entries:

http://testing.contextdigital.co.nz/orange_skin/entryid/1/entry-one

http://testing.contextdigital.co.nz/orange_skin/entryid/2/entry-two

But they both contain the comment I added to just the 2nd page.

I just tested this scenario on my personal blog site using version 01.01.01, but on individual pages.  It works as expected.  I am going to upgrade another site and apply this module there on its blog to make sure it works there just fine before we move further on the proposed upgrade you just tried.
